AD festeggia i suoi 80 anni

La rivista inglese Architectural Design (AD) fondata nel 1930 celebra i suoi 80 anni con un incontro al Riba di Londra. Ospiti: Mark Burry, Beatriz Colomina, Peter Cook, Charles Jencks, Patrik Schumacher, Neil Spiller e Michael Weinstock.

Mark Burry è Innovation Professor of Architecture all' RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. Direttore del Spatial Information Architecture Laboratory all' RMIT e Founding Director dell' RMIT's Design Research Institute; è Velux Visiting Professor per il 2009-2011 al CITA (Centre for Information Technology and Architecture, Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Denmark).

Beatriz Colomina è Professor of Architecture and Founding Director del Program in Media and Modernity a Princeton University. Ha scritto Domesticity at War (ACTAR e MIT Press, 2007), Doble exposición: Arquitectura a través del arte (Akal, 2006), Privacy and Publicity: Modern Architecture as Mass Media (MIT Press, 1994) e Sexuality and Space (Princeton Architectural Press, 1992).

Peter Cook Tra i fondatori di Archigramè attualmente socio di Gavin Robotham nel CRAB studio, sta costruendo una scuola a Vienna, e un progetto di social housing a Madrid e sta lavorando a un teatro in Italia e un museo a Taiwan.

Charles Jencks è l'autore del bestseller The Language of Post-Modern Architecture (ripubblicato come The New Paradigm in Architecture, 2002). Ha scritto diversi libri tra cui What is Post-Modernism? (quarta edizione, 1995) e The Architecture of the Jumping Universe (seconda edizione, 1997). Il suo famoso giardino in Scozia è il soggetto del libro The Garden of Cosmic Speculation (Frances Lincoln, 2003).

Peter Murray redattore di Architectural Design nel 1970 è poi passato all'AA dove ha diretto Clip Kit (presentato nella mostra di Beatriz Colomina  Clip Stamp Fold - small magazines on the 1960s) e poi corrispondente per il design per Nova magazine. Nel 1974 si è trasferito a Building Design, diventando poi redattore del RIBA Journal,per poi fondare Blueprint Magazine nel 1983 con Deyan Sudjic.

Patrik Schumacher è partner di Zaha Hadid Architects e founding director del AA Design Research Lab. H raggiunto Zaha Hadid nel 1988.

Neil Spiller è Professor of Architecture and Digital Theory, Vice Dean (Academic Affairs) e Graduate Design Director alla Bartlett, University College London. è Founding Director del Bartlett's Advanced Virtual and Technological Architecture Research Group (AVATAR). è autore di diversi libri tra cui Digital Dreams - Architecture and the New Alchemic Technologies (1998), Lost Architecture (2001), CyberReader (2002), Visionary Architecture -Blueprints of the Modern Imagination (2006) e Digital Architecture Now (2008).

Michael Weinstock è Director of Research and Development e Director of the Emergent Technologies and Design programme alla Graduate School dell'AA di Londra.
